Contemporary Forms is Genre’s take on fusion wear — not in the way it’s usually seen, but in the way we believe it should feel.
This category moves away from the expected pairing of eastern with western designs, and instead brings the two together through structure, shape, and fabric. It is about creating a language that exists between styles, not stitched onto either one. An amalgamation of form where modern silhouettes are softened with textures that move and fall just right.

The Form Trousers from Genre’s Contemporary Forms line photographed with handcrafted footwear by Saaz.
While most fusion lines focus on mixing cultural references, Contemporary Forms is rooted in balance. For example, we’re starting by adding just the right amount of pleats to a trouser – one that holds its structure so well it maintains its shape when worn, and is versatile enough to be paired with various tops and styled for multiple occasions. Introducing silhouettes that carry a sense of ease, but are cut with clarity. Pieces that you can wear across spaces, with tops that are cropped or traditional, with shoes that are ethnic or not. It’s not about dressing a certain way – it’s about creating a form that adapts.
This category will continue to unfold gradually. Each piece will be designed to hold its place in many types of wardrobe that aren’t defined by borders. Expect layers that can be styled with bold South Asian jewellery just as naturally as with minimal accessories — each silhouette giving space for expression, whether through oxidised silver, heirloom gold, or contemporary lines. The pieces pair effortlessly with artisanal, handcrafted South Asian footwear — think soft leather juttis with embroidered vamp panels, classic Saaz-style flats with braided straps and subtle stitch detailing, or minimal Kolhapuris that carry centuries of craftsmanship. Expect shapes that hold their own, and fabrics that move with you.
